Google Advanced Verification: Overview
If you run a garage door company in the U.S. or Canada and want to show up in Google Ads or Local Services Ads, Google doesn’t just let you start running campaigns. Because garage door and locksmith industries have a history of scams, Google requires something called Advanced Verification before it will allow you to run ads.
Their goal is to confirm that your business is real, properly registered, and not running the kind of bait-and-switch or fake-location scams that have been common in these industries.
For a lot of legitimate companies, this is where things stall: your application gets rejected, support emails go in circles, and weeks go by with no progress. Meanwhile, your competitors who are verified keep showing up at the top of the page.
More Booked Jobs helps garage door owners navigate this process so you can actually get to the part that matters: getting more calls and booked jobs from Google.

When Do Garage Door Companies Need Advanced Verification?
You’re typically pulled into Advanced Verification when:
- You try to run Google Ads for garage door repair/installation in the U.S or Canada for the first time
- You apply for Local Services Ads as a garage door company in the U.S. or Canada
A couple points to avoid confusion:
- This is separate from basic Advertiser Verification (which all Google Ads accounts go through). Advanced Verification is on top of that.
- This is different from Google Business Profile verification. Your GBP can be verified and still be blocked from running Ads/LSAs until Advanced Verification is approved.
What the Advanced Verification Process Looks Like
Google frequently changes it’s rules and processes, but you can generally expect the process to go as follows:
- Triggering the review
- You try to set up Google Ads or Local Services Ads with garage-door related keywords or categories.
- Google flags the account as needing Advanced Verification.
- Filling out the Advanced Verification form
- Provide your Ads account ID(s).
- Submit legal business details: registered name, owner name, address, phone number, website, and sometimes service areas.
- Upload documentation: business registration, licenses (if required in your state/province), and DBA/fictitious name docs if you trade under a different brand name.
- Optional video verification call
- A Google rep may ask for a live video call where you walk them through your shop, office, vehicles, signage, and paperwork.
- If you’re a service-area business, you’re often asked to be at/near your vehicle and have documents handy.
- Background and compliance checks
- Google reviews your docs, compares them to public records, and checks for past policy violations or signs of misleading practices.
- Decision (approval or rejection)
- In theory, Google says this can be done in around two weeks. Garage door accounts can often see longer timelines (sometimes 4–8+ weeks) especially if they’re not experienced with the process and can receive rejections with minimal explanation.
Why Some Garage Door Companies Get Stuck
Based on what Google reports, a lot of genuine companies get blocked for the following reasons:
- Mismatched information: Your business name, address, phone, or website doesn’t line up across your documents, website, Ads account, and Google Business Profile.
- Confusing business model: Google thinks you’re a lead-generation or “middleman” business instead of a real service company that’s actually doing the work.
- Service area issues: Claiming that you target huge geographic areas that don’t realistically match where you operate can flag their system.
- Weak or incomplete documentation: Missing licenses in states/provinces where they’re required, no DBA paperwork, or unclear ownership structure.
- Video verification problems: Being in the wrong place, not showing signage/vehicles, poor internet connection, or not having documents ready can lead to failure or extended reviews.
All of this is very frustrating when you’re just trying to get your ads live and start generating leads.
How More Booked Jobs Helps With Advanced Verification
We built More Booked Jobs with one simple goal: help you get more garage door leads from Google and turn them into booked jobs.
Helping you get through Advanced Verification is a critical step.
Here’s how we support you through the process:
- Pre-Check on Your Business Info
We review how your business shows up across your website, Google Business Profile, and Google Ads account and flag anything that doesn’t match (name, address, phone, URLs, branding). Cleaning this up ahead of time reduces the chances of pointless delays or rejections. - Documentation & Application Support
We help you understand what paperwork you actually need (business registration, licenses if applicable, DBA docs, insurance if required) and how to fill out the Advanced Verification form so everything lines up with your official records. - Video Call Prep
If Google schedules a video verification, we walk you through what to expect: where to be, what to show, and what documents to have ready so you’re not caught off guard. - Website & Account Setup That Supports Verification
We make sure your website, service areas, and initial campaign setup don’t send “red flags”. For example, avoiding anything that makes you look like a fake location or pure lead-generation business. - Post-Decision Support & Appeals Guidance
If Google denies your application, we help you interpret the rejection, fix what we can on your side, and structure a stronger appeal so you get the best possible shot at approval.
Disclaimer: What We Don't Do
Just to keep your expectations clear:
- We don’t help businesses fake locations, licenses, or documentation. Everything we do is for legitimate garage door companies who want to play by the rules and win.
- We can’t promise approval in every single case – final decisions are 100% on Google’s side. Anyone that tells you otherwise is misleading you.
What we can do is drastically reduce the confusion, guesswork, and back-and-forth that usually comes with Advanced Verification – and help you get approved as quickly and easily as possible.
Ready to Get Unstuck?
If Advanced Verification is holding you back – or you’re about to apply and don’t want to mess it up – we can help you go through it with a clear plan and a clean setup, instead of trial and error.
Once you’re verified, we plug you into our More Booked Jobs System to turn that access into what you actually care about: more calls, more estimates, and more booked installation and repair jobs.
